He wanted a new kitchen. She wanted new baths. They both wanted to cut space heating bills in half with no risk of rot or mold. So two innovative groups teamed up to adapt cutting-edge superinsulation techniques to a 1912 story-and-a-half home, adding R-24 foam and a rainscreen siding assembly to the original 2x4 wall to yield an R-40 wall assembly that is air-tight and utterly immune to cavity condensation. Jeff and Don will walk you through the process from beginning to end—from concept documents to detail drawings to field detail photos. Construction was completed in summer 2015.
